Khmer rice sickle - Cambodia - circa 1920
Rice cultivation is an important activity in Cambodia.
To cut the rice, a rice sickle is used by the Khmers. Made of horn, wood and metal, it is called “Kândiev Trâkong”.
Note that this sickle was also used as a weapon during the period of occupation by the Khmer Rouges between 1975 and 1979 (Kampuchéa).
