This piece represents VISHNU.
With Brahmâ and Shiva, Vishnu (or Vishnu) completes the Hindu trinity called the Trimurti. This represents the life-death-rebirth, creation-protection-rebirth cycle. Vishnu is the second god and thus the protector.
Vishnu has been represented countless times and for the first time not less than 5000 years ago.
As he appeared on earth taking human form, he was quickly called "Avatar".
The god Vishnu represents the evolutionary forces of the universe.
Usually, he is represented with four arms. He also carries a disc, a conch, a lotus and a club. He rode on the mythical Garuda bird.
The history of this piece is unknown to us. We know from the seller that it was found on a company reserve. It seems never to have been exhibited even if it was mounted, about twenty years ago, on a wood and metal support.
It is a very beautiful piece of decoration that should interest decorators or individuals wishing to enhance their interior with a central historic piece.
